From the Director’s Desk: Countdown to Charleston

Early Bird Pricing Ends TODAY

Where did Spring go? It’s been a busy one for the PFI as we simultaneously prepared for and executed our Farm Bill fly-in earlier this month and are in the last few weeks of preparation for the 2024 PFI Annual Conference scheduled for the end of next month, June 25 - 27, in Charleston, South Carolina.

I’d like to extend my sincere appreciation to our incredible roster of conference sponsors. Their financial commitment to our conference allows us to gather and convene in a great American city dripping with history. For anyone interested in taking a deep dive into arguably Charleston’s biggest historical moment, I would highly recommend Erik Larson’s new book, “The Demons of Unrest.” Lignetics CEO, Brett Jordan, sent me a copy and it is a fascinating account of the election of Abraham Lincoln and the outbreak of the Civil War. At least half of the book is set in Charleston, and the Mills House, our conference hotel, even gets a few mentions.

We gather in Charleston not to have a book discussion, however. Instead, we gather to discuss our businesses, our markets and our shared interests in state and federal policy. We also gather to reconnect with old friends, make new ones and expand on the vendor and partner relationships so vital to our businesses.

Rooms remain available at the historic Mills House. To receive at the special conference block rate, book before June 3.
