In this Week's Pellet Wire:

From the Director's Desk:

Conference Preparation Enters Final Push

One month from today the 2021 Pellet Fuels Institute Annual Conference will be in the books, hopefully ending the 18-month limbo that event has found itself owing to a global pandemic. More than anything else, I’m excited to see everyone again. As a reminder, a small group of pellet producers were together on March 12, 2020, in New Orleans as the world ground to a halt. Apart from that small group of producers, I haven’t seen the vast majority of our members since we gathered in Hershey in June of 2019. It will be great to reconnect, to say nothing of comparing notes about how everyone got through the pandemic, the state of our sector, and the challenges and opportunities before us.

For those of you who have already registered, thank you so much. For those who intend to, but haven’t yet, I’d like to appeal to you to sign up now so we can have a complete picture of headcounts for our various food and beverage functions. Finally, if you aren’t planning on attending I’d ask you to reconsider. The Pellet Fuels Institute’s annual conference is the only in-person gathering this year with a total, complete focus on the domestic wood pellet marketplace. The state of our sector is strong and producers are expanding and building new capacity. We would welcome your participation and appreciate your support.

Visit our website to learn more about our conference and to sponsor or register.

Congratulations to manufacturer-member, Traeger.

For the second time in just a month, our Industry News section features a story about a new wood pellet facility being built by a PFI member. Traeger will be partnering with Musser Lumber in Wythe County, Virginia to capture their species-diverse residual streams to produce several different pellet blends. We wish Traeger a speedy construction phase and the best of luck with their new endeavor.

Thank You to Our Current Annual Conference Sponsors

The 2021 PFI Annual Conference reminds me a bit of that metric on car batteries that talks about “cold cranking power” in that all conferences, ours included, are attempting to reboot after not being held for nearly two years. Registrants and sponsors alike have to be reminded of the overall value of a conference, and frankly get back into the habit of going and supporting all over again. With that in mind, I’d like to personally thank and express my most humble gratitude to those sponsors that have already answered our call for support. These organizations have got this year’s annual conference off to a great start with their early show of support.

We thank:
