 Wyden Introduces Bill to Boost Biomass Energy

 Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., has introduced a bill that would spur the use of low-carbon biomass energy to heat and power homes and businesses, while reducing the risk of wildfires and creating jobs in rural areas.
 The BioEnergy Act of 2015 would establish a competitive, cost-share grant program at the U.S. Department of Energy to improve technologies for drying and compressing woody biomass, which improves fuel quality and allows biomass producers to more easily transport wood products from forested areas to market.  New Hampshire Senate Committee Votes to Restore Renewable Energy FundNH Business Review
 The Senate Finance Committee unanimously voted Wednesday to restore the $52 million that the state House wants to raid from the Renewable Energy Fund. But even if the full Senates votes to restore those funds next week, it does not mean that the raid won’t happen.
 “The real question is what sources of funds is the Senate going to draw upon to put that money back,” said House Finance Committee Chair Neal Kurk, R-Weare.  “It’s great if there were enough money not to dip into that fund, as well as cut back on a number of different things, but where is the money going to come from?” Read the Full Article 
 Chelsea, New Hampshire Courthouse to Get a New Biomass BoilerValley News
 Chelsea — The assistant judges in Orange County will hold a public meeting next week to discuss replacing the aging oil-fueled boiler in the historic county courthouse with a more environmentally friendly heating system.  Assistant Judge Vickie Weiss said the existing 20-year-old boiler that heats the Orange County Courthouse is on its last legs, and the meeting will let the judges gauge support for the improvement project.
